For example, wall thickening in athlete\u2019s heart may look very similar to thickening seen in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, which is a fatal disease. It is responsible for approximately 6% of sudden deaths in young athletes. If your child describes chest pain, extreme fatigue, or palpitations during a severe flu-like infection, this situation should never be overlooked.
